About Us

When we opened our doors in 2005, our goal was for this restaurant to be a neighborhood destination, and for our business to be an active part of our community. We feel like you don't have to have white linens and high prices to serve good, fresh food that people will enjoy. And since we are jeans and flip flop kind of people, our place is comfortable and casual.

We knew we were going to spend a lot of time there, and we knew that we had to be true to ourselves to make it work. We also knew we would need a lot of support, so we put pictures of our family and friends on the walls and used their names for the menu items. Its our house, and we want everyone to feel welcome.

Of course none of this comfort works without great food, and my husband Tod is the true talent. He went to culinary school at the Art Institute of Atlanta, worked for the Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta, then at Jacaranda West Country Club in Venice. We started Food is Love Catering Company in the fall of 2004, and opened for breakfast and lunch as a restaurant in October of 2005.  Being big lovers of BBQ, we started serving ribs, chicken, brisket and pork in the fall of 2008 (along with all the fixins, and home made desserts - of course!).   Check out the nightly All You Care To Eat specials!!!

Tod is amazing in the kitchen (and out), but I always say there is an old southern woman trapped in his body. And together they sure can cook! We offer a casual breakfast and lunch, with great specials every day. The catering menu runs the gamut so if you are looking for something fancy for a special event, we can do that too. And for all those busy people who don't have time to cook, we offer  prepared food ; fresh meals for 2, 4 or more that you can pick up at the restaurant, and take home to cook. A great alternative to takeout.

There is no doubt that this is a tough business, and we are learning everyday about how to do things better. But we love what we do, and we actually love working together. And we love having our family around us. In addition to their pictures on the walls, you will frequently see our kids and our parents sometimes helping out, sometimes just hanging out. What continues to inspire us is how much love we have gotten back from our customers; many of whom have become friends and family to us. They know our kids by name. Their pictures end up on the refrigerator, and their numbers are taped to wall, so we can call them when we have one of their favorites as a special of the day.

So, if you haven't been by yet, considered yourself invited over to our house. Email me with any questions.
